The Travel Tips
To embark on the Cammini Bizantini, it’s important to remember a few simple tips for packing your backpack.
Try to bring only the essentials without overdoing it. Once on the Way, you’ll realize that you need fewer things than you brought.
In summer, a couple of changes will be enough as you’ll have the opportunity to wash dirty clothes every evening, and thanks to the heat, they’ll dry quickly. In winter, however, you might need to bring a bit more, and certainly heavier items.
Below, we’ll provide a list of items that might be useful for walking the Cammini Bizantini. Of course, you can add or remove items based on your habits and needs.
- BACKPACK choose a 40-liter backpack, you’ll be able to fit all the necessities without straining your back;
- RAIN COVER usually included with the backpack, but make sure because if the backpack gets wet in case of rain, it would be a problem;
- WATER BOTTLE it’s best to have a 1-liter capacity because in some sections there are no fountains or water sources;
- SHOES;
- SOCKS better if made of technical material to avoid blisters and because they’ll dry faster;
- FLIP-FLOPS latex ones are ideal for use in the shower as they dry quickly and are also very light;
- UNDERWEAR two or maximum three pairs, depending on the season (you’ll be able to wash them daily upon arrival);
- TROUSERS better if made of technical material and with a zip to detach the leg part and turn them into shorts;
- T-SHIRTS made of technical and breathable material;
- SWEATSHIRT a light sweatshirt for “summer, maybe to wear when you go out early in the morning or in the evening; heavier for” winter (like fleece) but always with a zip so you can easily take it off or put it on;
- RAINCOAT there are models that cover both the pilgrim and the backpack, so that in heavy storms, the back of the backpack also stays dry;
- HAT useful on very hot days to protect your head from the sun;
- GAITERS even in “winter we won’t find sections with abundant snow, but if a sudden storm comes, they prevent water from entering” inside the shoes;
- NECK WARMER some types transform into bandanas and also protect from sun rays;
